This workshop will focus on the creation of musical works outside the genre of song. Both advanced and novice composers and performers are welcome. We will explore musical possibilities from the classical tradition to avant-garde experimental improvisation. With guidance from the master teachers, you will create your own musical piece in the style of your choice; the musicians in the workshop will then form an ensemble to perform each composer's work. The final concert will be recorded and scores will be printed. Composers may also collaborate with fellow campers in the Songwriting, Acting, and Video Production classes to create orchestrations, theater, and film scores. No prior experience is required, but students who play orchestral or other instruments are especially encouraged to enroll.
